Godrej Appliances signs technology transfer agreement while using the Sure Chill Company Ltd., UK to manufacture and market Vaccine storage devices. Ahmadabad, Godrej Appliances, leading home appliances brand and pioneers in Refrigeration technology in India, has applied for specialised refrigeration products for Medical & Healthcare Application. The organization has signed a technology transfer agreement with 'The Sure Chill Company Ltd. (UK)', for development & manufacturing of vaccine storage devices, easily obtainable in India and choose overseas market.
This agreement will take together Godrej's decades of expert knowledge in refrigeration technology, and Sure Chill's in-depth technical knowhow from the medical refrigeration space.
Speaking about this cooperation, Mr. George Menezes, COO, Godrej Appliances said, "Under the aegis of our company's 'Good and Green' philosophy, we're devoted to providing solutions which addresses both ecological and social issues. The partnership with Sure Chill, addresses a key necessity of providing, precise cooling solutions for preserving vaccines used worldwide in immunization programmes".
UNICEF reports peg wastage of all vaccines around 50% inside entire cold chain, mainly caused by improper handling, poor storage facilities compounded by intermittent power disruptions. Current storage devices produce an inherent limitation when dealing with long bouts of 'no power', a fact in remote locations. However, Sure Chill's revolutionary technology maintains the actual temperature inside the 2-8 degree band, absolutely essential for vaccine preservation, even just in a scenario of power outage of as much as 8-12 days! This has immense importance for immunization programs around the world, saving countless lives. Godrej will manufacture these vaccine storage devices in capacities of 100L and 50L by June 2014. They'll be PQS (Performance, Quality and Safety standards) certified by WHO (World Health Organisation).
